Bird Care Duties:
Feeding and Hydration: Providing fresh food and clean water daily, ensuring food and water dishes are clean and placed appropriately to avoid contamination.
Cage/Aviary Cleaning: Regularly cleaning and sanitizing the bird's cage or aviary to minimize odors and the spread of bacteria, including changing cage liners or bedding daily.
Health Monitoring: Observing the birds' behavior, eating habits, and general health, and reporting any concerns or changes to the employer immediately.
Enrichment & Socialization: Providing clean, safe toys and perches, and ensuring the birds receive appropriate attention and exercise (if required by the species and employer's preference).
Safety: Ensuring the birds' environment is safe and "bird-proofed" if they are allowed out of their cage to fly (e.g., closing windows/blinds, turning off hot radiators).
Qualifications & Skills
Proven experience in a housekeeping or domestic helper role.
Prior experience with or a willingness to learn about proper bird care and handling is highly desirable.
Knowledge of health and safety procedures, especially regarding the use of non-toxic cleaning products around sensitive animals.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and follow specific instructions.
Reliability, honesty, and discretion.
Good communication skills to report on household and pet matters.
Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks and potentially lift heavy bags of bird feed or cages.
