The ER Staff Nurse is responsible for providing prompt, efficient, and high-quality nursing care to patients arriving in the Emergency Department. The nurse assists in triage, assessment, treatment, stabilization, and transfer or admission of patients with urgent and emergent health needs.
Perform triage and prioritize patients based on severity of condition.
Provide immediate nursing care for trauma, cardiac arrest, stroke, poisoning, and other emergencies.
Monitor and record patients’ vital signs, symptoms, and response to treatment.
Administer medications, IV fluids, and injections as prescribed.
Assist doctors during emergency procedures (CPR, intubation, suturing, wound dressing, etc.).
Maintain emergency equipment (defibrillator, suction, monitors, crash cart) in ready condition.
Prepare and shift patients for diagnostic tests or ICU/admission as required.
Ensure infection control and aseptic practices at all times.
Provide emotional support to patients and their families during crisis situations.
Document nursing notes, assessments, and interventions accurately in patient records.
Participate in disaster preparedness drills and hospital emergency protocols.
Coordinate with the multidisciplinary team for smooth patient care.
