Job Description

Required Business Development Manager (Food Industry)

The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to expand the business across India. This includes managing government initiatives, institutional sales, retail partnerships, channel partners, and distribution networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pan-India Business Expansion:

  • Strategically identify and develop new business opportunities across India.

  • Expand company presence through government initiatives, institutional tie-ups, and retail partnerships.

  • Government & Institutional Relations:

  • Understand and leverage relevant government schemes, incentives, and tenders.

  • Build and maintain relationships with government departments and institutional buyers to maximize business opportunities.

  • Retail & Channel Partner Management:

  • Identify, onboard, and manage retail partners and channel partners.

  • Drive sales and revenue growth through effective distribution and retail strategies.

  • Distribution & Sales Strategy:

  • Develop and implement distributor models suitable for different regions.

  • Monitor distributor performance and ensure timely product availability and sales growth.

  • Market Analysis & Reporting:

  • Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor strategies, and new business opportunities.

  • Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and presentations for management.

  • CRM & Data Management:

  • Maintain accurate records of sales, partners, and distribution networks.

  • Utilize CRM tools to track leads, opportunities, and conversions effectively.

  • Collaboration & Team Coordination:

  • Work closely with marketing, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure smooth execution of business strategies.

  • Provide guidance and support to regional sales teams and distributors.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Graduate / MBA in Marketing or equivalent.

  • Minimum 2–3 years of business development experience in the Indian grocery or food sector.

  • Strong understanding of the grocery/food industry distribution and retail ecosystem in India.

  • Knowledge of government initiatives, institutional sales, and tendering processes.

  • Familiarity with domestic and international markets.

  • Experience in managing channel partners, distributors, and retail networks.

  • Ability to develop and implement business expansion strategies.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Proficiency in CRM systems and data reporting tools.
