An IT Technical Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer systems, networks, and servers within an organization. They ensure the smooth operation of IT infrastructure and support users with technical issues to maintain productivity and data security.
System & Network Management
Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, hardware, and software.
Manage and monitor servers, routers, switches, and firewalls.
Set up and maintain user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
Technical Support
Provide L1/L2/L3 technical support to end-users (depending on level).
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
Log and track support tickets through ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
Security & Backup
Implement and maintain security measures (antivirus, firewalls, patching).
Monitor system performance and identify potential vulnerabilities.
Perform regular backups and disaster recovery tests.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Report system performance, incidents, and resolutions to management.
Collaboration
Coordinate with vendors for hardware/software procurement or maintenance.
Work closely with developers, network engineers, and cybersecurity teams.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Windows/Linux/Mac OS environments.
Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
Experience with virtualization tools (VMware, Hyper-V).
Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Understanding of cybersecurity principles and tools.
Knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) is an advantage.
