Job Summary:
Responsible for welding and gas cutting of steel plates, pipes, and structural components used in shipbuilding, repair, and fabrication, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform welding (ARC/MIG) and gas cutting operations as per drawings and work instructions
Cut, fit, and weld ship hull plates, sections, frames, and pipelines
Read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols
Ensure weld quality, alignment, and dimensional accuracy
Carry out pre-heating, grinding, and finishing as required
Follow safety procedures and use PPE at all times
Maintain tools, welding machines, and gas cutting equipment
Coordinate with supervisors and fitters to meet production schedules
Requirements:
ITI / trade certificate in Welding or equivalent
Minimum 2–5 years of experience in shipbuilding or heavy fabrication
Knowledge of welding techniques, electrodes, and gas cutting practices
Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
Work Location: Shipyard / Dry Dock / Fabrication Yard
