Job Description – Sales Engineer (Solar Rooftop Segment)

Job Summary
A Sales Engineer for Solar Rooftop projects is responsible for identifying and pursuing new leads in residential segment under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojna (PMSG), business opportunities in commercial and industrial segment, developing and executing sales strategies and building strong relationships with clients, government agencies, and partners. A sales engineer is responsible for conducting market research, preparing and deliver presentations, and collaborating with technical teams to ensure project execution and compliance with Solar rooftop project guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality customer service
• Achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets
• Identify potential leads and new business opportunities through networking and prospecting
• Pursue prospective leads, conduct site visits, present the solar rooftop project details and address prospective leads needs and concerns
• Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to develop and execute sales strategies and conduct campaigns to promote & improve sales of solar rooftop installation and commissioning projects for residential, commercial and industrial segments
• Research and understand customer needs & industry trends in the solar rooftop segment
• Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitors
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, government nodal agencies (UPCL & UREDA) and banks disbursing solar project loans
• Ensure that the tele callers have followed up all leads from marketing campaigns
• Ensure that the tele caller’s calling summary sheets are up to date
• Onboard and register the client, complete agreements and related documentation
• Collaborate with the technical team to ensure seamless and timely project execution
• Track and report on sales performance, pipeline build up, market feedback and forecast
• Participating in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to gain knowledge of the solar industry
• Any other tasks assigned by the management of the company, including and not limited to, assisting with other departmental work such as liaisoning, engineering (including site erection and after sales service) etc.
Key Skills and Organizational Expectations
• Strong understanding of the Solar Industry including good knowledge of Uttarakhand State Solar Policy, PMSG Yojana and MSME Policy
• Technical knowledge of the solar rooftop systems, solutions, designs and various components
• Ability to meet and exceed sales targets
• Ability to travel as needed for site visits, client meetings and industry events
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite
