Frame makers work with hand and power tools, and they may also repair or reproduce antique frames. The job requires knowledge of different wood types, precision in measurement and cutting, and ability to assemble frames properly.Key duties include:

Discussing frame specifications with customers and adjusting accordingly.
Cutting wooden planks or strips, shaping and sizing them.
Cutting joints at angles, applying glue, nailing parts together.
Cutting and smoothing glass pieces to fit frames.
Mounting pictures and securing backs of frames.
Polishing or varnishing frames for finish and durability.
Knowledge of tools like saws, chisels, drills, planes.
Repair and restoration of frames, including antique or decorative work
