LIC Bima Sakhi (Mahila Career Agent) – Role Description
1. Overview & Program Purpose
LIC’s Bima Sakhi (under the Mahila Career Agent Scheme) is a stipendiary program of 3 years exclusively for women, introduced on 9th December 2024 to empower women across rural and semi-urban areas by training them to become LIC agents.
After completing training, participants may become full-time LIC agents or potentially rise to Development Officer roles if eligible.
2. Key Responsibilities as a Bima Sakhi
Bima Sakhis serve as local ambassadors of LIC, with responsibilities that include:
Creating Insurance Awareness
Educate the community about various LIC insurance products, their benefits, and financial security implications.
Facilitating Policy Enrollment
Assist individuals in understanding, filling out, and submitting LIC policy applications.
Supporting Claims and Customer Queries
Act as a liaison between policyholders and LIC—helping with claims, policy renewals, and resolving customer queries.
Building Community Trust
Build strong rapport within your locality as a dependable resource for financial guidance and insurance-related needs.
3. Eligibility Criteria
Age: Between 30 and 70 years of age at the time of application
Education: Minimum of 10th pass
Restrictions: Applicants must not be relatives of current LIC agents or employees. Retired employees or ex-agents are also ineligible
Commission: Earned based on policies sold—first-year commission alone can be up to ₹48,000 (excluding bonuses)
