Education Counsellor

An Education Counselor guides students in academic, career, and personal development by helping them set goals, choose courses, plan careers, and navigate challenges, working with students, parents, and educators to ensure success through personalized advising, assessments, workshops, and resource provision. Key duties involve individual/group counseling, developing educational plans, assisting with college applications, offering study skills training, and staying updated on educational trends. 

Core Responsibilities

• Student Guidance:

  Provide one-on-one and group sessions for academic, career, and social-emotional support. 

• Planning & Goal Setting:

  Help students define interests, strengths, and weaknesses to set realistic educational and career goals. 

• Course & Career Planning:

  Advise on course selection, degree paths, college applications, and scholarship opportunities. 

• Skill Development:

  Organize workshops on time management, study skills, test prep, and career exploration. 

• Collaboration:

  Partner with teachers, administrators, and parents to create a supportive environment. 

• Assessment:

  Administer and interpret aptitude and personality tests to guide decisions. 

• Record Keeping:

  Maintain confidential student files and track progress. 

• Resource Referral:

  Connect students and families with external mental health or specialized support services.
