Head Librarian

Location : Serilingampally Mandal, Ranga Reddy District Hyderabad

Role Overview: The staff will be responsible for the daily operations & control of public library. Role involves assisting patrons, managing library, maintaining records and managing to the library’s community engagement programs. The ideal candidate will have the Library management experience in modern libraries.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patron Assistance: and assisting library visitors with locating books, digital resources, and other materials. Provide guidance on how to use the library catalogue, computers/Kiosks, and other library services. Assist patrons with library membership registration, renewals, and other inquiries. Offer basic troubleshooting for digital resources, including e-books and online databases.

2. Circulation Management: Check books and materials in and out using the library’s circulation system. Process reservations, renewals, and overdue notifications. Manages returns and ensure materials are re-shelved accurately and efficiently. Maintain the organization and ensuring the cleanliness of library shelves and reading areas.

3. Collection Management: Manage cataloguing and new library materials. Perform routine checks to ensure library materials are in good condition. Maintain damaged or lost items and replacements as needed.

4. Community Engagement: Manage book displays in line with topical and relevant themes Manage promotional materials to enhance user engagement.

5. Administrative Management: Maintain accurate records of library transactions and inventory. Prepare reports and statistics related to library usage. Manage tasks like filing & ensure response to inquiries via phone or email.

6. Safety and Compliance: Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors, particularly children. Adhere to child protection policies and other relevant regulations. Report any incidents or concerns.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Library Science.

Prior experience in a library management.

Prior experience in using library management software and digital resources.

Basic IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and internet research.

Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

Attention to detail and accuracy in handling records.

Customer-focused with a friendly and helpful attitude.

Ability to work both independently & Manage team effectively.
