Staff Nurse

• Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and equipment.

• Perform pre-operative checks to ensure all required surgical tools and supplies are available and functional.

• Assist the surgeon during surgery by handing over instruments, sponges, sutures, and other supplies as needed.

• Maintain the sterile field and monitor the aseptic technique throughout the procedure.

• Count instruments, sponges, and needles before and after surgery to ensure nothing is retained.

• Collaborate with circulating nurses and other OT staff to ensure smooth surgical procedures.

• Handle surgical specimens as per protocol and label them correctly.

• Follow infection control protocols strictly to minimize the risk of contamination or hospital-acquired infections.

• Ensure proper disposal of bio-medical waste according to hospital policies.

• Participate in the cleaning and disinfection of the OT after procedures.

• Document all perioperative care activities accurately in the patient records.

• Assist in maintaining inventory of OT supplies and request restocking as needed.
