Job Description

Edible Oil & Packing - Production Manager
Role summary
We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations at our edible oil plant — from crude oil processing and refining to filling, packing, and dispatch. The candidate must ensure production targets are met with high product quality, adherence to food safety standards (FSSAI / GMP / HACCP), and efficient packing line management.
Key responsibilities
Production & Refining
- Oversee refining, bleaching, deodorisation (RBD) processes
- Manage solvent extraction / expeller operations
- Plan and achieve daily, weekly, monthly production targets
- Minimise downtime through preventive maintenance coordination
- Control yield, FFA, moisture, colour parameters
Packing & Filling
- Manage pouch, bottle, tin, and bulk filling lines
- Oversee auto-packing machines, multi-head weighers, batch coders
- Ensure net weight accuracy, sealing quality, label compliance
- Coordinate packaging material procurement and inventory
- Reduce packing wastage and line rejections
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure FSSAI, HACCP, ISO 22000 compliance on shop floor
- Coordinate with QC for in-process and finished goods testing
- Implement GMP / GHP across production and packing areas
- Handle internal and external audits
Team & Operations
- Lead and train production supervisors and operators
- Manage shift scheduling and manpower planning
- Drive Kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Prepare MIS reports — daily production, packing output, losses
- Coordinate with maintenance, stores, dispatch, and logistics
Candidate requirements
Must-have skills
- Hands-on experience in edible oil plant operations
- Knowledge of refining, hydrogenation, or fractionation
- Experience managing packing / filling lines
- FSSAI / HACCP / GMP knowledge
- Strong leadership and floor management ability
- Familiar with ERP / SAP for production entries
Good-to-have skills
- Knowledge of blending different oil grades
- Experience with automated packing machinery (VFFS, etc.)
- Lean / Six Sigma or 5S certification
- Exposure to export-quality documentation
- Multi-plant or multi-shift management experience
