Lab Assistant for Biology/Physics/Chemistry

Job Purpose:

To support the Science Department by preparing and maintaining equipment and materials for practical science lab. Ensure that health and safety regulations are followed, and assist teaching staff in delivering effective and engaging experiments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, set up, and check scientific equipment and materials for class experiments and demonstrations.

• Support the development of new practical activities and experiments.

• Clean, maintain, and safely store laboratory equipment and materials.

• Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment.

• Monitor inventory levels; order supplies and manage stock control.

• Ensure that chemicals and biological specimens are stored and disposed of in accordance with health and safety guidelines (e.g., COSHH).

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lab safety procedures and ensure these are followed by all users.

• Ensure proper labeling and safe handling of hazardous substances.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Prior experience as a school science technician.

• First Aid and/or Health & Safety training (e.g., COSHH certification).

• Laboratory-based with some lifting and handling of equipment.

• May require occasional support during school events or science fairs.

• It is a Full Time Lab Technician / Pharmacist job for candidates with 1 - 3 years of experience.
