Fondant Artist Job Description

Role: Fondant Artist / Cake Decorator – Specialty Bakery

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, create, and decorate cakes and pastries using fondant (smooth sugar paste) for birthdays, weddings, events, and custom orders.

• Specialized work in fondant: modeling, sculpting, creating flowers, animal/human figurines, and covering cakes with fondant for smooth finish.

• Decorate cakes with buttercream, ganache, whipped cream, and other mediums as required.

• Collaborate with pastry team to plan themes and develop new cake designs.

• Ensure consistency and high standards: create visually appealing, creative, and on-trend cake decor.

• Adhere to food safety and hygiene requirements; maintain clean and organized workstation.

• Assist Head Decorator or manager, fulfill daily bakery needs, participate in large/bulk or event orders.

• Advise clients on design options, budget, and feasibility.

• Support inventory management, ingredient preparation, and workspace setup.

Requirements:

• 1+ years of experience specializing in fondant cake decoration; Diploma/Pastry Course preferred.

• Excellent artistic ability, creativity, and attention to detail.

• Skilled with cake decorating and modeling tools.

• Knowledge of latest cake trends, coloring, and edible accessory techniques.

• Good communication and collaboration skills.

• Physical stamina and ability to remain upright for extended periods; manual dexterity and fine motor skills.

Salary Range: ₹18,000 – ₹30,000 per month (depends on experience, location, employer policy).

Work Hours: Typically full-time (rotational shifts, weekends possible).

Preferred: Portfolio of previous fondant cake work, food safety certification.
