Mechanical AutoCAD Draftsman

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed 2D mechanical drawings using AutoCAD.

• Create manufacturing drawings for dies, injection moulds, jigs, fixtures, and machine parts.

• Prepare assembly drawings, part drawings, and fabrication drawings.

• Revise and update drawings based on design modifications.

• Coordinate with the design and production teams to ensure drawing accuracy.

• Maintain drawing standards, revision records, and engineering documentation.

• Ensure drawings comply with company standards and engineering specifications.

• Support design engineers during product development and manufacturing.

Technical Skills

• Maintain proper documentation and drawing archives.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD

• Basic knowledge of 3D CAD software like SolidWorks.

• Good understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.

• Knowledge of machining, fabrication, and sheet metal components.

• Familiarity with BOM preparation and engineering documentation.

• Develop and edit Wire EDM programs based on engineering drawings and CAD data.

• Set up and operate Wire EDM machines for production.

• Select appropriate machining parameters to achieve the required accuracy and surface finish.

• Perform machine alignment, workpiece setup, and job verification before machining.

• Monitor machining operations and make necessary program or parameter adjustments.

• Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments.

• Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions.

• Maintain program records, tooling data, and production documentation.

• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Wire EDM programming, machine setup and Auto CAD drafting

• Knowledge of Wire EDM machines

• Ability to interpret CAD drawings and engineering blueprints.

• Knowledge of machining parameters, wire selection, and EDM technology.

• Familiarity with AutoCAD and CAM software is an advantage.

• Experience with precision measuring instruments such as Vernier Calipers, Micrometers and Height Gauges.
