Job Description – Commis 1

Position: Commis 1 – Tandoor / Chinese / Continental
Location: Mira Road, Maharashtra
Salary: ₹22,000/- per month
Department: Kitchen / Food Production
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Head Chef / Sous Chef

Job Purpose

We are looking for a skilled and hardworking Commis 1 to join our kitchen team. The candidate will be responsible for food preparation and cooking in Tandoor, Chinese or Continental sections while maintaining food quality, hygiene, taste and presentation standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food as per standard recipes and instructions.

• Handle daily preparation and cooking for the assigned Tandoor, Chinese or Continental section.

• Maintain consistency in taste, quality, portion size and presentation.

• Ensure timely preparation of food during regular and peak service hours.

• Assist the Head Chef / Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations.

• Follow proper food preparation, storage and handling procedures.

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the assigned kitchen section.

• Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use.

• Follow proper FIFO practices and minimise food wastage.

• Maintain proper portion control and support food cost control.

• Ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils are used safely and kept clean.

• Coordinate with other kitchen team members for smooth food production.

• Follow all kitchen SOPs, hygiene standards and food-safety requirements.

• Support the senior chefs in menu preparation and new dish trials.

• Maintain discipline and cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.

Section-Specific Responsibilities

Tandoor: Prepare and cook kebabs, tandoori items, breads and other Tandoor dishes as per standards.

Chinese: Prepare starters, noodles, rice, sauces, gravies and other Chinese dishes as per standard recipes.

Continental: Prepare soups, starters, sauces, pasta, grilled items and other Continental dishes as required.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a hotel, restaurant or similar food outlet.

• Previous experience in Tandoor, Chinese or Continental section is preferred.

• Good knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food preparation.

• Ability to maintain consistent taste and food quality.

• Knowledge of kitchen hygiene and food-safety practices.

• Good teamwork and communication skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

• Hotel Management / Culinary qualification will be an added advantage.
