Job Description – Head Chef

Position: Head Chef
Location: Mira Road, Maharashtra
Salary: ₹30,000/- per month
Department: Kitchen / Food Production
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: General Manager / Management

Job Purpose

We are looking for an experienced and responsible Head Chef to manage the complete kitchen operations at Farmhouse. The Head Chef will be responsible for maintaining food quality, taste, hygiene, kitchen discipline, staff management, food cost and smooth daily kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise day-to-day kitchen operations.

• Lead, train and supervise the kitchen team, including Chefs, Commis and Kitchen Helpers.

• Ensure consistent taste, quality, presentation and portion control of all food items.

• Prepare and implement recipes, menu standards and kitchen SOPs.

• Monitor food preparation and ensure timely service during peak hours.

• Control food cost, wastage and portion sizes.

• Manage kitchen stock, inventory and proper FIFO practices.

• Coordinate with the Purchase and Store teams for daily requirements.

• Ensure proper storage, handling and freshness of all food items.

• Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness, hygiene and food safety.

• Ensure compliance with applicable FSSAI and food-safety standards.

• Check kitchen equipment and report maintenance requirements.

• Handle customer complaints related to food quality and take corrective action.

• Conduct regular training and briefing of kitchen staff.

• Prepare staff duty allocation and manage kitchen discipline.

• Support menu development and introduce new dishes whenever required.

• Maintain proper coordination with the Restaurant Manager and other departments.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in a hotel, restaurant or multi-cuisine food outlet.

• Previous experience as a Head Chef / Sous Chef / Senior Chef preferred.

• Strong knowledge of Indian, Chinese, Tandoor and Continental/Multi-cuisine food preparation.

• Good knowledge of food costing, portion control and wastage management.

• Strong leadership and team-management skills.

• Good knowledge of kitchen hygiene and food safety.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage high-volume operations.

• Good communication, discipline and problem-solving skills.

• Hotel Management / Culinary qualification will be an added advantage.
