A staff nurse is a registered healthcare professional responsible for providing direct, bedside patient care, executing physicians' treatment plans, and monitoring patients' vital signs. They act as the vital link between patients, their families, and the broader medical team to ensure continuous, high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care: Perform initial physical examinations, assess health needs, and execute individualized nursing care plans.
Medication & Treatment: Administer medications, start intravenous lines, and perform technical procedures such as dressing wounds and inserting catheters.
Monitoring: Record vital signs, interpret diagnostic test results, and observe patients closely for adverse reactions or changes in condition.
Ward Management: Assist with patient admissions and discharges, maintain inventory of medical supplies, and ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic ward environment.
Education & Support: Provide emotional support to patients and their families, and educate them on disease prevention and post-discharge recovery.
