The OT Technician is responsible for assisting the surgeon and clinical team during hair transplant procedures (FUE/FUT), ensuring sterile conditions, preparing instruments, managing grafts, and maintaining smooth OT operations. The role requires strong attention to detail, sterile technique knowledge, and patient-centric professionalism.
Prepare the Operation Theatre (OT) according to protocol.
Sterilize and arrange surgical instruments, devices, punches, implanters, and consumables.
Ensure availability of OT supplies for FUE/FUT procedures.
Assist in patient preparation: gowning, positioning, vitals monitoring (as required).
Maintain proper documentation and consent forms.
Assist surgeon during extraction and implantation phases.
Handle graft collection, sorting, counting, and hydration.
Operate and maintain OT equipment (microscopes, lights, suction, monitors, etc.).
Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques throughout the procedure.
Support the doctor in anaesthesia preparation and other clinical assistance.
Clean, disinfect, and restock the OT after each surgery.
Ensure safe disposal of biomedical waste as per guidelines.
Sterilize and package instruments for next use (autoclaving, etc.).
Update case records, graft counts, and procedure reports.
Assist in patient post-operative dressing and guidance when required.
Daily OT readiness checklists.
Routine maintenance and calibration of OT and hair-transplant-specific instruments.
Maintaining stock of consumables and reporting shortages.
Assist during pre- and post-procedure counselling when required.
Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
Maintain a professional, calm, and reassuring demeanour.
Diploma in OT Technology / ANM / GNM / Certification in Operation Theatre Technician course.
1 – 6+ years of experience in OT; hair transplant or dermatology clinic experience preferred.
Knowledge of FUE/FUT hair transplant workflow (training can be provided).
Strong understanding of sterilization, aseptic techniques, and OT safety.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in long surgical procedures with focus and precision.
