Production Manager

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Management

• Plan, organize, and monitor daily rolling mill operations to meet production targets and customer requirements.

• Ensure optimal utilization of machines, manpower, and materials.

• Monitor rolling parameters (temperature, speed, reduction ratio, etc.) to ensure consistent rod quality and minimize breakdowns.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance throughput and reduce conversion costs.

2. Quality Assurance

• Ensure compliance with ISO / ASTM / customer specifications for aluminium rod quality.

• Coordinate with the Quality Department for in-process and final inspection.

• Analyse and address quality deviations, surface defects, and metallurgical inconsistencies.

• Implement root cause analysis and corrective actions for process defects.

3. Dross Generation & Management

• Monitor and control dross formation during melting and casting.

• Develop and implement effective dross reduction programs.

• Coordinate dross segregation, recovery, and disposal in line with environmental and cost-efficiency norms.

• Maintain records of dross generation ratios and recovery efficiencies.

4. People & Production Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors, operators, and technicians.

• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environment (SHE) guidelines.

• Conduct training programs to enhance skill levels and productivity.

• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

5. Inventory & Dispatch Management

• Coordinate with stores and logistics for timely availability of raw materials (ingots/billets) and consumables.

• Monitor in-process and finished goods inventory to maintain optimal stock levels.

• Ensure timely dispatch of aluminium rods to downstream conductor manufacturing lines or customers.

• Maintain accurate production and dispatch documentation in ERP systems.

6. Process Optimization & Cost Control

• Implement process control measures to minimize scrap, rework, and dross.

• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield, energy consumption, downtime, and OEE.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities through equipment utilization, process innovation, and waste minimization.
  
  Skills and Experience Required:

• A bachelor's degree in B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical / Production Engineering (mandatory).

• 5–10 years in aluminum rolling mill operations, preferably in transmission conductor or non-ferrous industries.

• In-depth knowledge of hot rolling/cold rolling processes.

• Strong knowledge of rolling mill operations, melting, casting, and dross management.

• It is a Full Time Manufacturing job for candidates with 5 - 6+ years Experience.
