Job Title

ITI Boiler Attendant / Boiler Operator – Water Tube Gas Boiler

Job Purpose

Operate and maintain the water tube gas-fired boiler safely to ensure continuous steam supply as per production requirement, with proper safety checks and logbook records.

Key Responsibilities

• Start, operate, monitor, and shut down the water tube gas boiler as per SOP.

• Maintain required steam pressure, temperature, and water level continuously.

• Monitor and control:

  • Gas burner operation, flame stability, burner sequence

  • Feed water pump, deaerator (if any), steam line valves

  • Boiler drum level, pressure gauges, temperature readings

• Ensure safety systems are working:

  • Low water level cut-off, pressure controls, alarms, interlocks

  • Safety valve condition and testing as per schedule

• Perform routine checks for leakage, abnormal noise, pressure fluctuations, overheating.

• Do boiler blowdown (as per schedule) and ensure safe disposal.

• Maintain feed water quality and support chemical dosing / water softener operation:

  • Check hardness/TDS/pH (as applicable) and record results

• Coordinate with production team for steam demand and load changes.

• Assist in preventive maintenance and breakdown handling with the maintenance team.

• Maintain boiler area cleanliness and follow 5S.

• Keep daily records:

  • Boiler logbook (pressure, temperature, water level, run hours)

  • Gas consumption (if tracked), blowdown log, water test log

  • Maintenance checklist and incident/near-miss reporting

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety rules, PPE, and emergency shutdown procedure.

• Do not run boiler if any critical safety device/interlock is not functioning.

• Support inspection/audit readiness and keep records updated.

Qualification

• ITI (Boiler attendant)

• Boiler operation certificate (if applicable as per local rules) preferred

Experience

• 0–3 years preferred (freshers can be considered as trainee)

Skills Required

• Knowledge of water tube boiler operation basics

• Gas burner & safety interlock understanding

• Basic mechanical + electrical awareness (pumps, valves, panels)

• Strong discipline in logbook and safety practices

• It is a Full Time Manufacturing job for candidates with 6 months - 3 years of experience.
