Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand the scope, timeline, and specific requirements of the solar energy project's civil construction phase.
Oversee site assessments and preparations to ensure they are suitable for solar installations. This may involve grading, levelling, excavation, and foundation preparation.
Manage the construction of foundations and mounting structures for solar panels, ensuring they are built to specifications and able to support the weight of the solar arrays.
Supervise the installation of access roads, fencing, drainage systems, and other civil/mechanical infrastructure required for the solar project.
Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors involved in the construction process. Ensure that they meet project requirements and deliverables within agreed-upon timelines.
Implement and enforce quality control procedures to guarantee the high-quality construction of civil components for solar projects. Conduct inspections to verify compliance with project standards.
Prioritize safety throughout the construction phase. Develop and enforce safety protocols and guidelines to protect workers and mitigate potential hazards associated with civil works.
Provide technical expertise and support to address any issues or challenges that may arise during the civil construction process.
Maintain accurate records of all civil construction activities, including progress reports, test results, and any modifications made during the project.
Facilitate effective communication with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide updates on project progress and address any concerns related to civil works.
Ability to use project management tools like primavera, smart sheets, Microsoft project.
Candidate Profile:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering/mechanical engineering with 6-10 years of experience in the renewable sector. Relevant certifications in execution are a plus. 300MW+ experience in solar installation is a big plus.
Proven experience in managing construction aspects of solar energy projects, preferably in a supervisory role.
In-depth knowledge of construction techniques, foundation design, and relevant building codes and regulations.
Ability to read and interpret project plans, technical drawings, and specifications related to civil works.
Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in construction projects.
