Job Summary

A Counter Salesperson in a bakery is the front-line sales staff who assists customers at the counter, helps them choose bakery products, processes sales transactions (cash/card/UPI), maintains the display, and ensures a pleasant buying experience.

📋 Key Responsibilities

✔ Greet and assist customers at the counter
✔ Provide product information (ingredients, price, freshness)
✔ Help customers choose items and make product recommendations
✔ Process sales transactions accurately and issue bills/receipts
✔ Maintain attractive and clean displays of bakery items
✔ Monitor stock at the counter and report low items to the baker/manager
✔ Handle customer queries courteously and resolve simple issues
✔ Record daily sales and maintain transaction records
✔ Maintain hygiene and cleanliness at the counter and display area
✔ Sometimes assist with packaging special orders and bakery take-aways

🛠 Responsibilities Breakdown

Customer Interaction

• Interact with customers and understand their order needs

• Answer customer questions about products and pricing

Sales & Transaction

• Accept payments and return change if needed

• Sometimes upsell items (suggest combos or add-ons)

Display & Inventory

• Arrange and replenish bakery items on shelves/counters

• Ensure products are fresh, rotated correctly (oldest first)

• Monitor stock levels and communicate needs to kitchen or management
