Mechanical Draughtsman

Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in metal furniture, staircases, railings, and architectural metal products. The role involves creating innovative and practical designs, preparing detailed fabrication drawings, and ensuring designs are both aesthetically appealing and structurally sound. The engineer will collaborate closely with the production, sales, and installation teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and durable products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop metal furniture, staircases, grills, railings, and related fabricated products.

• Create 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).

• Prepare detailed cutting lists, welding details, and assembly drawings for the workshop.

• Select appropriate materials, finishes (powder coating, PVD, etc.), and fittings based on design requirements.

• Conduct structural calculations to ensure product strength, safety, and durability.

• Work closely with the production team to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and cost-effective to manufacture.

• Coordinate with clients/architects/designers to understand project requirements and provide technical input.

• Support prototype development, testing, and adjustments as required.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety norms, and quality specifications.

• Maintain and update all technical documentation, BOMs, and design records.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

• Experience in metal fabrication design (furniture, staircases, architectural metalwork).

• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).

• Knowledge of sheet metal, welding, machining, and fabrication processes.

• Familiarity with structural design, load calculations, and material properties.

• Good understanding of powder coating, polishing, and PVD finishes.

• Strong attention to detail with problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines.

• Good communication skills for client and team coordination.

Preferred Skills (Optional):

• Knowledge of modular furniture design.

• Experience in custom staircase and railing projects.

• Familiarity with 3D rendering software for client presentations.

• Exposure to international design standards.
