Transport Supervisor

A Logistics Supervisor ensures the smooth, cost-effective, and safe flow of goods by managing daily operations, inventory levels, and transportation schedules. Key duties include leading staff, coordinating with vendors/carriers, optimizing warehouse efficiency, and enforcing safety compliance. They analyze performance data to improve workflows and resolve delivery issues.

Key Responsibilities and Roles

Operational Management:

Oversees daily shipping, receiving, and inventory operations to ensure on-time delivery.

Team Leadership:

Supervises logistics staff, including training, scheduling, hiring, and performance management.

Logistics Planning:

Develops strategies for optimizing transportation routes and lowering freight costs.

Inventory Control:

Monitors inventory levels, conducts audits, and manages storage, ensuring accurate stock records.

Vendor & Carrier Relations:

Coordinates with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, suppliers, and customers to ensure smooth supply chain operations.

Safety & Compliance:

Maintains a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with OSHA, FDA, and company regulations.

Documentation & Reporting: Prepares reports on logistics performance, analyzes metrics, and maintains accurate records.

Required Skills

Leadership: Ability to manage, motivate, and direct a team.

Analytical Abilities: Proficiency in analyzing logistics data for efficiency improvements.

Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.

Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.

Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve logistical issues under pressure.
