Position Objective
The Assistant Manager – Logistics & Expeditor is responsible for ensuring smooth and timely movement of raw materials, consumables, bought-out components, and finished goods to support uninterrupted production and customer delivery schedules. The role also involves close follow-up with internal departments, suppliers, transporters, and warehouse teams to expedite critical materials and resolve delays effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and monitor inbound and outbound logistics activities in alignment with production and dispatch requirements.
Follow up with suppliers, transporters, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely material availability.
Track pending purchase orders, material shortages, and delivery commitments, and proactively escalate critical delays.
Coordinate with the purchase, production, stores, quality, and dispatch teams to resolve material movement and supply issues.
Ensure effective expediting of urgent materials, replacement parts, and critical items required for production continuity.
Maintain accurate records of inward and outward shipments, logistics documents, and material tracking reports.
Monitor stock movement, inventory status, and dispatch schedules to support smooth plant operations.
Verify logistics-related documentation such as invoices, packing lists, LR/GR, e-way bills, and related records as applicable.
Work closely with warehouse and stores teams to support FIFO practices, space optimization, and stock accuracy.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly logistics and expediting reports for management review.
Identify operational delays, analyze root causes, and support corrective actions to improve delivery performance.
Contribute to cost control by reducing freight inefficiencies, minimizing delays, and improving coordination across functions.
