Key Responsibilities:
1. Import Documentation & Compliance
Prepare and verify import documents including IGM, BOE, B/L, Invoice, Packing List, COO, LC documents, etc.
Ensure timely BOE filing and avoid customs penalties.
Maintain compliance with DGFT, Customs, and port regulations.
2. Coordination with Shipping Lines & Forwarders
Coordinate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and transporters for shipment status and timely clearance.
Obtain freight quotes, transit times, and check sailing schedules.
Track shipments from China/other countries to Indian ports (Mundra, Nhava Sheva, etc.).
3. Freight & Cost Management
Negotiate freight rates with forwarders.
Maintain updated knowledge of current freight rates, especially Shanghai to Mundra.
Prepare cost sheets for:
Shipping line local charges
CFS charges
Customs clearance charges
4. Import Operations
Monitor vessel arrival, de-stuffing, and CFS activities.
Follow up on IGM filing and duty payment.
Maintain MIS of all import shipments, documents, and costings.
5. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Manage relationships with shipping lines, customs brokers, and CFS operators.
Ensure the candidate can name and explain shipping lines and forwarders they currently work with.
Required Skills & Knowledge
Strong understanding of IGM, BOE, Types of BL, Types of LC, incoterms, and import procedures.
Knowledge of international freight, transit time, and customs regulations.
Proficient in MS Excel and documentation management.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Qualifications
Graduate in Commerce, Logistics, International Trade, or related field.
Certification in EXIM / Logistics preferred.
Minimum 4 years of experience in Import Operations.
