Job Description

• Prepare and verify import documents: commercial invoice, packing list, BL/AWB, COO, insurance, exemptions/authorisations (ADV, EPCG, SION, etc.).

• Prepare BOE checklist, coordinate HS code classification, valuation, and duty calculation; share with CHA for Bill of Entry filing in ICEGATE.

• Coordinate with CHA/customs broker, shipping lines, airlines, CFS/ICD for IGM details, examination, duty payment, OOC, DO release, and delivery of cargo.

• Ensure compliance with Indian Customs Act, Customs Tariff, FTP, allied acts, and CBIC notifications/circulars relevant to company products.

• Track shipments (sea/air/courier), monitor ETA, detention/demurrage, and escalate delays; maintain DSR/MIS on all inbound shipments and duty payments.

• Liaise with suppliers for timely and accurate pre alerts and documents; check for discrepancies and get corrections before filing BOE.

• Maintain proper filing of import documents, BOE, duty challans, assessment orders, and correspondence for audit, LUT/Bond closure, and departmental queries.

• Support responses to customs queries, audits, SCNs, and post clearance compliance in coordination with seniors and consultants.

• Required qualifications & skills

Qualifications

• Graduate (preferably in Commerce/Logistics/International Trade); additional EXIM or customs course is an advantage.

• 2–5 years’ experience in import documentation and customs clearance with CHA/logistics company or importing firm in India.

• Working knowledge of: HS classification, BOE types, basic duty/IGST, preferential duty, notifications, and ICEGATE/EDI processes.

• Good MS Excel and email communication skills; ability to coordinate with CHA, vendors, and internal departments under time pressure
