A Vehicle Tracking Specialist (or Tracking Officer) is primarily responsible for monitoring the movement, security, and efficiency of a fleet using GPS and telematics technology.

## Core Responsibilities

• Real-Time Monitoring: Track vehicle locations, speed, and direction using GPS software to ensure drivers stay on designated routes and adhere to schedules.

• Route Optimization: Analyze data to plan the most cost-effective and time-saving routes, helping to reduce fuel consumption and improve delivery windows.

• Driver Behavior Analysis: Monitor for "harsh" driving habits, such as rapid acceleration, hard braking, sharp cornering, and idling, to improve safety and vehicle longevity.

• Security & Recovery: Manage geofencing alerts (notifications when a vehicle enters or leaves a set area) and assist law enforcement in recovering stolen vehicles using real-time location data.

• Maintenance Coordination: Track vehicle mileage and engine hours to schedule preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs, thereby minimizing downtime.

• Reporting & Analytics: Generate daily or monthly reports on fuel usage, trip history, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for management review.

## Requirements & Skills

• Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of GPS tracking software, telematics systems (e.g., Cartrack, Geotab), and basic database management.

• Communication: Ability to maintain constant contact with drivers and dispatchers to relay traffic updates or emergency instructions.

• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in recording vehicle documentation, insurance renewals, and compliance records.
