KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Installation:
Lay out, cut, bend, and assemble pipes to create complex systems according to specifications and blueprints.
Fabrication:
Prepare and fit pipes, flanges, and valves, and sometimes use welding techniques to connect them.
Maintenance and repair:
Troubleshoot problems, repair leaks, and perform routine maintenance on existing systems to ensure they are working efficiently.
Testing:
Conduct pressure and leak tests, such as hydro testing, to verify system integrity and code compliance.
System operation:
Ensure systems for heating, cooling, steam, and hydraulics are functioning properly in various settings like power plants, chemical plants, and shipyards.
Skills and qualifications
Technical skills:
Ability to read blueprints, perform complex calculations, and use a variety of hand and power tools.
Physical abilities:
Good manual dexterity and strength to handle heavy pipes and equipment, sometimes working at heights.
