Job Description – Nursing Superintendent

Hospital: Pentagon Hospital, Wakad, Pune

Position: Nursing Superintendent

Department: Nursing Services

Reporting To: Medical Superintendent / Hospital Director

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and supervise overall nursing services of the hospital.

• Ensure quality patient care in all nursing areas including Ward, ICU, NICU, Casualty, and OT.

• Monitor nursing staff performance, duty rosters, attendance, and discipline.

• Implement hospital policies, nursing protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Coordinate with doctors, consultants, and other departments for effective patient care.

• Ensure proper documentation, medication administration, and infection control practices.

• Conduct training, orientation, and continuous education programs for nursing staff.

• Handle patient and relative grievances related to nursing services.

• Ensure availability and proper utilization of nursing manpower, equipment, and supplies.

• Maintain nursing records, audits, and compliance with NABH / statutory guidelines (if applicable).

• Report regularly to hospital management regarding nursing operations and issues.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• B.Sc Nursing / GNM with relevant registration.

• Minimum 5–8 years of nursing experience, with supervisory/leadership experience preferred.

• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

• Knowledge of hospital policies, patient safety, and infection control standards.

Working Conditions:

• Full-time hospital-based role.

• Day duty with on-call responsibilities as required.
