Job Description – Nursing Superintendent

Designation: Nursing Superintendent
Department: Nursing Services
Reporting To: Medical Superintendent / Hospital Director

Key Responsibilities:

1. Plan, organize, and supervise overall nursing services of the hospital.

2. Ensure high standards of patient care, nursing ethics, and professional conduct.

3. Supervise nursing staff in all departments including Ward, ICU, NICU, OT, and Casualty.

4. Prepare duty rosters, leave schedules, and ensure adequate staffing at all times.

5. Monitor nursing performance and conduct regular evaluations and feedback.

6. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, and statutory requirements.

7. Coordinate with doctors and department heads for smooth patient care services.

8. Conduct training, orientation, and skill development programs for nursing staff.

9. Maintain discipline, resolve staff issues, and enforce hospital rules.

10. Oversee inventory, nursing equipment, and consumables management.

11. Ensure proper documentation, nursing records, and handover procedures.

12. Handle patient complaints related to nursing care and take corrective actions.

13. Ensure infection control protocols and patient safety measures are strictly followed.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Registration: Valid State Nursing Council Registration

Skills Required:

• Strong leadership and team management skills

• Excellent communication and coordination abilities

• Knowledge of hospital policies, NABH standards, and patient safety

• Ability to handle emergencies and work under pressure
