Electrician – Job Role Overview

An electrician installs, maintains, repairs, and inspects electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, ensuring they are safe and meet regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Install wiring, lighting, outlets, circuit breakers, and electrical panels

• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings

• Inspect electrical systems to identify faults, hazards, or code violations

• Repair or replace faulty wiring, switches, fuses, and other components

• Test electrical systems using tools like multimeters and voltage testers

• Ensure all work complies with electrical codes and safety standards

• Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs

• Advise clients on energy-efficient and safe electrical solutions

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of electrical systems and safety procedures

• Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively

• Manual dexterity and good hand–eye coordination

• Knowledge of electrical codes and regulations

• Physical stamina and ability to work in confined or elevated spaces

• Good communication and customer service skills
