The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving merchant acquisition, ensuring smooth onboarding processes, and increasing sales of locking keys across retail counters. The role includes building strong partner relationships, training retail staff, ensuring operational compliance, and achieving sales & merchant activation targets.
Identify, approach, and acquire new merchants for the platform.
Conduct KYC verification and ensure all required documents are collected and submitted.
Guide merchants through the onboarding process (registration, documentation, system setup).
Coordinate with compliance, operations, and technical teams to complete merchant onboarding.
Train merchants on product usage, transaction processes, and platform policies.
Monitor newly onboarded merchants to ensure quick activation and revenue generation.
Drive sales of locking keys at designated retail counters to achieve monthly targets.
Educate retailers on product benefits, security features, and usage process.
Ensure proper product placement, branding, and visibility at retail outlets.
Track inventory levels at retail counters and ensure timely replenishment.
Conduct periodic training and refreshers for retail staff to improve sales performance.
Monitor sales performance and take corrective measures to improve conversions.
Build strong relationships with retailers, merchants, and channel partners.
Provide continuous support to merchants and counters to ensure smooth operations.
Address merchant/retailer queries and resolve issues promptly.
Conduct regular field visits to audit quality, check compliance, and maintain service standards.
Develop and execute market expansion strategies for merchant acquisition and key sales.
Identify new business opportunities, local partnerships, and potential high-value merchant segments.
Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback.
Work with marketing teams to run promotions, awareness campaigns, and field activations.
Prepare regular reports on merchant onboarding status, sales performance, and field insights.
Ensure onboarded merchants follow company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate records of KYC, onboarding documentation, and retail sales reports.
Follow risk & fraud prevention protocols during merchant acquisition.
Ensure all field activities align with company processes, pricing policies, and sales guidelines.
Track KPIs such as:
Merchant onboarding count
Activation rate
Locking key sales volume
Retail counter sales performance
Provide daily/weekly MIS reports to management.
Recommend improvements based on data insights and field observations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in merchant onboarding, field sales, or retail channel management.
Good understanding of KYC compliance and documentation.
Ability to work independently in the field.
Target-driven mindset with strong negotiation skills.
Basic technical knowledge for merchant system setup (preferred).
