Kitchen Helper – Cafe (Thane, Mumbai)

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation — washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients

• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen workstations, equipment, and utensils throughout the shift

• Wash and sanitize dishes, cutlery, cookware, and kitchen tools (manual or dishwasher)

• Receive and store deliveries properly, checking for freshness and correct quantities

• Maintain stock rotation (FIFO) and report low inventory to the supervisor

• Dispose of kitchen waste and garbage as per hygiene protocols

• Support setup and breakdown of kitchen stations before and after service

• Assist with basic cooking tasks under chef supervision (e.g., grilling, toasting, plating) as needed

• Ensure food storage areas (fridge, freezer, dry storage) are clean and organized

• Follow all food safety and hygiene standards (FSSAI guidelines)

• Wear proper uniform, apron, and hygiene gear (gloves, hairnet) at all times

• Report any equipment malfunction or safety hazard to the kitchen manager

• Assist other kitchen staff during peak hours to ensure smooth service

Requirements (optional to include):

• Prior experience in a cafe/restaurant kitchen preferred but not mandatory

• Basic understanding of hygiene and cleanliness standards

• Ability to work in shifts, including weekends

• Physically fit to stand for long hours and lift moderate weights
