Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation: Chop, peel, wash, and cut vegetables, meat, and fish. Measure and mix ingredients accurately for recipes.Mise en Place: Set up and organize the workstation with tools, equipment, and fresh food items before service. Cooking Support: Assist the Chef de Partie (station chef) with basic cooking, plating, and garnishing dishes during peak service hours.Inventory & Deliveries: Receive stock deliveries, check quality and quantities, rotate items using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method, and report shortages.Cleanliness & Safety: Keep the station clean and sanitized. Follow HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) food safety and hygiene guidelines. Requirements and QualificationsExperience: Generally 1 to 3 years of commercial kitchen experience, often stepping up from a Commis II or III role.Education: Basic high school education or a formal culinary certificate/diploma.Skills: Strong knife skills, physical stamina to stand for long hours, ability to lift heavy items, and good teamwork under pressure.
