Job Summary:

We are looking for a creative, skilled, and all-rounder Head Pastry Chef to lead the kitchen operations at our brand-new bakery startup, Bougasta Bakers. The ideal candidate must have comprehensive expertise in baking high-quality desserts, cookies, and layered puffs from scratch. You will be responsible for maintaining premium taste, managing raw materials, and ensuring standard operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Desserts & Pastries: Standardize recipes and production for various cakes, pastries, cheesecakes, mousses, tarts, and premium sweet treats.

• Puffs & Savories: Expertly handle puff pastry dough lamination, prepare delicious fillings, and bake consistently flaky, golden-brown puffs/patties.

• Cookies & Dry Cakes: Oversee the daily batch production of premium cookies, brownies, muffins, and tea cakes.

• Inventory & Cost Control: Monitor kitchen raw materials, manage stock rotation, minimize food wastage, and help maintain food costing targets.

• Hygiene & Safety: Maintain strict cleanliness and sanitization standards in the kitchen area, ovens, and equipment in compliance with food safety regulations.

• Menu Innovation: Introduce new flavors, seasonal items, and creative presentation styles to keep the menu exciting.

Requirements & Skills:

• Experience: 2 to 5 years of proven experience working as a Pastry Chef or Baker in a commercial bakery, café, or hotel.

• Technical Skills: Expert knowledge of commercial baking equipment, including deck/convection ovens, planetary mixers, and dough sheeters.

• Creative Flair: Strong skills in dessert presentation, plating, and cake decoration.

• Efficiency: Ability to work under pressure during peak rush hours and handle bulk orders effectively.

• Education: A degree/diploma in Culinary Arts or Hotel Management is a plus, but exceptional practical skill is our top priority.
