Job Title: U.S. Tax Associate – 1040 Individual Tax Returns

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated U.S. Tax Associate with 6 months to 2 years of experience in preparing and reviewing Form 1040 – U.S. Individual Income Tax Returns. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of U.S. tax regulations, hands-on experience with tax preparation software, and the ability to manage client data accurately and securely.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review Form 1040 tax returns for U.S. individuals, including residents, non-residents, and expatriates.

• Analyze and input W-2s, 1099s, 1098s, K-1s, Schedule C, Schedule E, and other supporting documents.

• Identify applicable deductions, credits, and tax planning opportunities to optimize client outcomes.

• Communicate with clients to gather missing information, clarify tax positions, and provide general support during tax season.

• Ensure timely and accurate tax filings in accordance with IRS deadlines and compliance standards.

• Maintain client confidentiality and ensure data security in all interactions and recordkeeping.

• Assist senior tax professionals in more complex returns and IRS notices.

• Stay current on IRS updates, tax law changes, and regulatory guidance.

Qualifications:

• 6 months to 2 years of hands-on experience in U.S. individual tax return preparation (1040s).

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Enrolled Agent (EA) certification is a plus.

• Familiarity with U.S. tax software (e.g., Drake, ProSeries, UltraTax, Lacerte, or similar).

• Strong knowledge of U.S. tax laws, IRS forms, and filing procedures.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines during tax season.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with expatriate taxation or non-resident filings (e.g., 1040-NR, FBAR, FATCA).

• Exposure to tax document automation tools or client portals.

• Knowledge of state tax return preparation for multiple jurisdictions.
