Job Description – Head of Accounts

Position: Head of Accounts / Accounts HOD
Department: Finance & Accounts
Location: Lower Parel

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Head of Accounts to lead the Finance & Accounts function. The person will be responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, taxation, statutory compliance, audits, and internal financial controls.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, statutory requirements, and financial analysis, along with proven team-management skills.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Supervise day-to-day accounting and finance operations.

• Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of books of accounts.

• Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

• Ensure proper accounting of revenue, expenses, assets, liabilities, and provisions.

• Monitor accounts payable, receivable, bank reconciliation, and general ledger.

2. Taxation & Statutory Compliance

• Ensure timely compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax, Professional Tax, PF, and other applicable regulations.

• Review GST returns, TDS returns, tax payments, and reconciliations.

• Coordinate with tax consultants and authorities whenever required.

• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and statutory requirements.

3. Team Management

• Lead, supervise, and mentor the Accounts & Finance team.

• Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.

• Establish accounting procedures and ensure adherence to internal policies.

• Train team members on accounting processes, compliance, and ERP systems.

4. Management Support

• Provide financial insights and reports to senior management.

• Support costing, pricing, profitability, and investment-related analysis.

• Assist management in strategic financial decisions.

• Identify opportunities for cost control and process improvement.

6. Required Qualifications

• B.Com / M.Com – mandatory.

• CA / CMA / MBA Finance preferred.

• Strong knowledge of Indian accounting and taxation practices.

• Proficiency in Tally and MS Excel.

• Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, Income Tax, and statutory compliance.

10.Preferred Candidate Profile

The candidate should have strong leadership capabilities, sound technical knowledge of accounting and taxation, and the ability to independently manage the complete Accounts & Finance function. Experience in managing a team and working directly with senior management will be an advantage.
