Job Description – Study Abroad Counsellor
Job Title: Study Abroad Counsellor
Department: Student Counselling & Admissions
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Mode: Work from Office
Location: Noida
Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated, passionate and result-oriented Study Abroad Counsellor to guide students interested in pursuing higher education overseas.
The role involves understanding student profiles, recommending suitable countries, universities and courses, maintaining regular follow-ups, mentoring students throughout their study abroad journey, and converting prospective students into successful enrolments.
This is a counselling and conversion-focused role. Candidates should be comfortable with calling, follow-ups, student handling, mentoring, and achieving assigned targets.
Key Responsibilities
Counsel students regarding study abroad opportunities based on their academic background, career goals and financial profile.
Guide students on suitable countries, universities, colleges and courses.
Act as a mentor throughout the student journey by providing honest guidance, building trust and helping students make informed decisions with confidence.
Convert student enquiries into successful admissions through effective counselling, relationship building and conviction-based guidance.
Handle student leads received through digital marketing, social media, referrals and other company sources.
Make regular outbound and follow-up calls to prospective students.
Maintain consistent communication with students and parents through calls, WhatsApp, email and meetings.
Convert prospective student enquiries into applications and enrolments.
Explain admission requirements, tuition fees, scholarships, intakes and general application processes.
Coordinate with the Admissions and Visa teams for the smooth processing of student applications.
Maintain accurate and updated student records in the CRM.
Complete daily follow-ups and assigned calling activities.
Share daily and weekly performance reports with the Reporting Manager.
Work towards individual and team enrolment and conversion targets.
Attend training sessions and remain updated on universities, courses, intakes and study destinations.
Represent Edumigrants at college festivals, education fairs, seminars, career guidance sessions, school/college events, and other institutional programmes to promote the company's services, generate student leads, and build brand awareness.
Maintain professional communication and follow company processes and reporting requirements.
Important Role Clarification
This position requires active student counselling, regular calling, continuous follow-ups and the ability to convert student enquiries into successful enrolments.
The counsellor is expected to build confidence in students and parents by acting as a trusted mentor, addressing their concerns, and helping them make well-informed decisions through professional counselling and conviction.
Candidates looking for a role limited only to general guidance or administrative work may not be suitable for this position.
The candidate should be comfortable working with defined performance expectations, enrolment targets and student conversion goals.
The role may also require participation in college festivals, educational exhibitions, institutional events, seminars and promotional activities conducted by the company from time to time.
What We Look For
We are looking for someone who is proactive, responsible and consistent with student follow-ups. The ideal candidate should:
Possess excellent counselling and communication skills.
Build long-term relationships with students and parents.
Take ownership of assigned leads and convert them effectively.
Be a mentor rather than just a counsellor—someone who can inspire confidence, address objections professionally, and guide students towards making the right study abroad decisions with conviction.
Be comfortable representing Edumigrants at educational events, college festivals and institutional programmes.
Work professionally towards helping students achieve their study abroad aspirations while contributing to the organisation's growth.
