A Construction Store Executive (also called Storekeeper or Store Executive – Construction Site) plays a key role in managing materials, tools, and equipment at a construction site. Their responsibilities help ensure smooth site operations, avoid delays, and prevent material losses.
Receive, inspect, and record all incoming materials and supplies.
Ensure materials meet required specifications (e.g., quantity, quality, and condition).
Issue materials to the site team as per material requisition slips or work orders.
Maintain stock levels to prevent shortages or overstocking.
Maintain accurate inventory records (manual and/or digital).
Perform periodic stock checks (daily, weekly, monthly).
Reconcile physical stock with system records.
Update inventory management software or registers regularly.
Prepare and maintain:
GRNs (Goods Received Notes)
MRNs (Material Requisition Notes)
Issue slips
Stock registers
Return slips
Generate daily/weekly/monthly stock reports for the site manager or head office.
Coordinate with:
Procurement team for material deliveries
Site engineers and supervisors for issuing materials
Transport/logistics team for unloading and storage
Report material shortages, excesses, or damages immediately.
Ensure proper storage of materials to prevent damage, spoilage, or theft.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the store area.
Follow safety protocols while handling hazardous materials.
Secure tools, machinery, and equipment after working hours.
Keep track of issued tools, equipment, and returns.
Maintain a logbook for tools/machinery issued to workers.
Report lost or damaged assets.
Ensure store operations follow company policies and site safety regulations.
Support audits by providing required documentation and access to records.
