Job Description

We are a biotechnology company manufacturing laboratory equipment (biosafety cabinets, autoclaves, centrifuges, etc.) and offering services. We’re hiring an experienced, independent HR Executive who is firm about policy, practical in people decisions, and focused on building a professional, high-performance workplace.

Primary responsibilities

  • Develop, document and implement HR policies, employee handbook and standard operating procedures aligned with company goals and legal/regulatory requirements.

  • Own full-cycle recruitment for technical, production and office roles: write role profiles, source candidates, screen, interview, coordinate assessments, and manage offer/negotiation processes.

  • Lead onboarding and offboarding processes; ensure smooth induction, role clarity, equipment/IT provisioning and exit interviews with actionable insights.

  • Implement performance management systems (goal setting, appraisals, corrective action plans) and coach managers on objective performance conversations.

  • Design and execute retention strategies: high-potential identification, career-path planning, targeted retention interventions and stay interviews.

  • Manage compensation & benefits administration, including salary reviews, increments, bonuses, reimbursements and vendor relationships for benefits.

  • Oversee payroll coordination with finance (timely, accurate inputs and reconciliations) and manage monthly payroll-related queries.

  • Administer employee expense policies and approvals, ensuring controls and compliance with company budgets and audit requirements.

  • Maintain employee records and HRIS accuracy; produce headcount, attrition and other HR reports for senior management on a scheduled basis.

  • Ensure statutory and labour law compliance (PF, ESI, labour rules, local regulations) and coordinate with external consultants when needed.

  • Lead workplace safety, health and hygiene programs in coordination with operations (including PPE, safety audits, incident reporting and documentation).

  • Act as the company’s first responder in people crises: employee grievances, disciplinary matters, workplace investigations and mediation—apply firm, fair and documented procedures.

  • Manage employee relations to preserve a professional office culture: enforce codes of conduct, investigate complaints confidentially, and apply consistent consequences.

  • Plan and deliver training & development programs (technical onboarding, soft skills, safety training); maintain training records and measure impact.

  • Drive HR initiatives that support business priorities: workforce planning, productivity improvement, reduction of unplanned absenteeism, and skills gap closure.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management—provide people-risk assessments, recommend difficult decisions (including terminations) when necessary, and prioritise company interests.

  • Manage HR budget items and third-party vendors (recruitment agencies, training providers, statutory consultants) with cost control in mind.

  • Promote and monitor employee engagement initiatives and pulse checks; translate feedback into actionable changes and improvements.

  • Conduct structured exit interviews and analyze turnover trends to recommend prevention measures.

Operational/administrative tasks

  • Handle day-to-day employee queries with professionalism (attendance, leave, policy clarifications, reimbursements).

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information at all times.

  • Prepare documentation required for audits, due diligence or client/vendor verifications.

  • Professional, calm and non-emotional in interpersonal situations; respected for firmness coupled with respect.

Experience & knowledge (to include on posting)

  • Minimum 7+ years HR experience; experience in manufacturing, engineering, biotech or technical environments preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of Indian labour laws and statutory compliance.

  • Proven track record in recruitment, performance management, disciplinary procedures and employee retention.

  • Comfortable with basic HRIS tools, MS Excel and reporting.
