Job Description: OPD Staff Nurse
Designation: OPD Staff Nurse (Male & female)
Department: Outpatient Department (OPD)
Location: Malleshwaram, Bangalore
Reporting To: Duty Doctor / Nursing Supervisor
1. Job Summary
The OPD Staff Nurse is responsible for providing efficient, patient-focused nursing care in the outpatient department. The role involves assisting doctors during consultations, managing patient flow, administering basic treatments, and ensuring accurate documentation while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
2. Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Duties
Conduct initial patient assessment and record vital signs (BP, temperature, pulse, etc.)
Assist doctors during examinations and minor procedures
Administer prescribed medications, injections, and vaccinations
Perform wound dressing, first aid, and basic procedures
Observe and report any change in patient condition
OPD Operations
Manage patient flow and ensure smooth OPD functioning
Coordinate appointments and assist in patient triage
Maintain cleanliness and infection control protocols in OPD
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate patient records, reports, and treatment sheets
Ensure compliance with hospital policies and NABH / regulatory standards
Follow biomedical waste management guidelines
Patient Education & Communication
Educate patients on treatment, medication usage, and follow-ups
Provide guidance on preventive healthcare and lifestyle practices
Maintain professional communication with patients and families
Emergency Support
Provide immediate assistance during medical emergencies in OPD
Coordinate with doctors and emergency team for patient transfer
3. Qualification & Experience
GNM / B.Sc Nursing from a recognized institution
Registration with State Nursing Council (KNC preferred)
Experience: 0–3 years (OPD / clinic experience preferred)
4. Key Skills
Strong clinical and basic nursing skills
Good communication and patient-handling ability
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced OPD environment
Attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Basic computer knowledge (EMR systems preferred)
