VMC Machine operator

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines.

• Perform precision machining of mould dies, inserts, and tooling components as per design.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, 2D/3D models, and CAM programs.

• Set up VMC machines including tool setting, workpiece clamping, and loading of CNC programs.

• Make necessary program offsets and tool path corrections during operations.

• Perform dimensional inspection using precision instruments like Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Dial Indicators, etc.

• Ensure accuracy and quality in all machined components.

• Coordinate with Design, Quality, and Production teams to ensure smooth workflow.

• Maintain proper documentation and follow work instructions, job cards, and production reports.

• Follow 5S, safety guidelines, and housekeeping standards in the tool room.

Required Skills:

• Hands-on experience in operating VMC machines (preferably with Fanuc / Siemens / Mitsubishi controls).

• Good knowledge of mould die manufacturing processes and machining sequences.

• Basic understanding of CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, NX, Delcam).

• Strong interpretation of technical drawings and GD&T.

• Ability to use measuring instruments accurately.

• Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to machine and program errors.

Qualifications:

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die, Production, or relevant field.

• 2 to 5 years of experience as a VMC Operator in a tool room or mould die manufacturing environment.
