Quality Control Engineer

Job Summary

The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for ensuring that elevator components, systems, installation, and commissioning activities comply with company standards, industry codes, and safety regulations. The role involves inspections, testing, documentation, and coordination with manufacturing, installation, and service teams to maintain high quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Inspection & Testing

• Inspect elevator components such as cabins, doors, guide rails, machines, controllers, safety gears, and buffers.

• Conduct in-process and final inspections during manufacturing, installation, and commissioning stages.

• Verify alignment, leveling, wiring, and mechanical fittings as per approved drawings and specifications.

• Perform functional tests, safety tests, and performance checks.

Compliance & Standards

• Ensure compliance with applicable standards and codes (EN 81, IS 14665, IS 15259, ISO 9001, local elevator safety codes).

• Ensure adherence to safety norms and statutory requirements.

• Support audits by internal teams, customers, and regulatory authorities.

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare and maintain inspection reports, checklists, test records, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).

• Track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

• Maintain quality documentation and records for traceability.

Vendor & Material Quality

• Inspect incoming materials from suppliers and subcontractors.

• Coordinate with vendors for quality issues, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

• Approve or reject materials based on quality standards.

Continuous Improvement

• Analyze quality issues and recurring defects.

• Participate in root cause analysis and implement process improvements.

• Support quality improvement initiatives and Kaizen activities.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of elevator systems and components

• Understanding of mechanical and electrical drawings

• Familiarity with elevator safety codes and standards

• Knowledge of quality tools (7 QC tools, FMEA, RCA)

• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Good communication and coordination abilities

Educational Qualification

• Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering
