4. Job Purpose
To ensure 100% quality and productivity by effectively supervising machine operators, maintaining strict process control, ensuring cost efficiency, and complying with IATF quality standards, while upholding high levels of discipline, safety, and 5S.
The role is critical as the company manufactures safety-sensitive plastic injection moulded components for automotive starters and alternators. Any defect may lead to customer rejection, line stoppage, or risk to human life.
5. Key Responsibilities
A. Production Target Achievement
Achieve shift-wise production targets, Quality targets and adherence to daily production plan.
Ensure mould loadings are completed within 1 hour.
Ensure adherence to defined cycle time.
If the production is stopped for any reason, report the reason for stoppage and corrective actions initiated immediately to the General Manager
Prevent production losses due to improper machine settings, manpower inefficiency or process deviations.
Monitor hourly production including quality specifications and take corrective / preventive actions immediately without any delay. (Do not produce any defective parts)
Prevent plastic material losses by avoiding purging, drooling, spillage, mix-ups, wrong usage & scrapping.
Prevent non-plastic material losses by avoiding wrong placement, damaging, entangling, spillage, mix-ups, wrong usage, dropping down, stepping on it & scrapping.
Achieve min 90% machine availability by good preventive maintenance.
B. Quality Assurance (Zero Defect Responsibility)
Ensure 100% adherence to Master sample, Quality Plan, Defect sample information, SOP, and Work Instructions.
Verify First-Off Approval before starting mass production.
Ensure operators follow inspection frequency strictly.
Immediately stop production if an abnormality occurs, & resume production after corrections.
Ensure corrections are completed
Escalate issues immediately to the concerned persons and record the issue.
Prevent mixing of parts, wrong labeling, and material traceability failure.
Ensure strict compliance with IATF documentation and traceability norms.
C. Process Control & Training
Train machine operators on:
SOPs
Quality standards
Visual defect identification
Handling, storing & packing standards
Ensure correct process parameter setting as per approved process sheet.
Ensure safety cameras are working wherever installed.
Prevent unauthorized process changes.
Conduct daily shift briefing and awareness sessions.
Develop operator multi-skilling.
D. Cost Control & Efficiency
Minimize:
Rejections & rework possibilities
Material and manpower wastage
Excessive runner losses
Power wastage
Ensure optimum use of raw materials.
Prevent overproduction than the production plan.
Monitor rejections / scrap and take corrective / preventive actions immediately.
Control & monitor consumables usage.
E. 5S & Shop Floor Discipline
Maintain strict 5S standards.
Ensure a clean, organized, and hazard-free, smoke free work environment.
Ensure moulds, tools, gauges, and documents are kept in designated locations.
Enforce discipline:
No absenteeism / late entry without approval
No mobile phone usage on the shop floor
Wearing shoes is mandatory
No idle gathering, gossiping and shouting during the shift hours
Conduct daily 5S audits within the shift.
F. Documentation & IATF Compliance
Maintain and update:
Jobcards - fill all fields completely
Process parameter sheets
Hourly monitoring sheets
Escalation sheets
Yellow Cards
Breakdown reports
Ensure that other relevant documents are available as per IATF standards.
Support internal and external audits.
Ensure corrective action / NCR closure within timeline.
G. Safety & Risk Management
Ensure the safe operation of machines.
Ensure proper clamping / tightening of moulds & hoses for / hydraulics/ hot oil / water circulation.
Avoid using hard materials on the moulds; use Only aluminum or Brass rods.
Ensure machine safety curtains are in working condition.
Ensure safety cameras are in working condition & set properly to prevent defective part production and ensure mould safety.
Prevent unsafe work practices and unsafe conditions.
Conduct periodical safety trainings for operators.
Report near-miss incidents immediately.
Report accidents immediately
Ensure compliance with safety standards.
H. Manpower Management
Allocate manpower effectively.
Handle conflicts professionally.
Maintain shift discipline and attendance control.
Motivate operators for productivity , quality , material accountability & safety.
Ensure smooth shift handover with proper documentation.

Authority to stop production in case of a quality / safety abnormality.

8. Required Qualifications & Experience
ITI / Diploma / BE in Mechanical / Polymer / Production Engineering.
Min. 2 years experience in Plastic Injection Moulding.
Minimum 1 year in shift handling role.
Knowledge of automotive quality systems (IATF preferred).
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Strong trouble shooting / problem solving skills.

Failure in managing the machine. operators resulting in any losses.
Failure to meet expectations may result in performance warning, disciplinary action, or reassignment.
