Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Production Manager – Machine Shop to manage day-to-day machining operations and ensure efficient production, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in CNC, VMC, and HMC programming, setting, and operation, along with strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, cutting parameters, and production planning.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, manage, and monitor daily production activities in the machine shop.

Handle CNC, VMC, and HMC machining operations and ensure optimum machine utilization.

Must have hands-on experience in CNC/VMC/HMC programming, including program development, editing, proving, and optimization.

Develop and optimize machining programs to improve cycle time, productivity, and tool life.

Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, fixtures, and machining parameters.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and machining specifications.

Prepare and implement production plans according to customer requirements and delivery schedules.

Monitor production targets, rejection, rework, downtime, and machine utilization.

Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions for improving productivity.

Ensure first-piece approval and maintain consistent process quality.

Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Tool Room, PPC, and Engineering teams.

Ensure proper machine setting, tooling, fixture availability, and process readiness.

Monitor and control OEE, cycle time, rejection, and productivity.

Train and guide CNC/VMC/HMC programmers, setters, and operators.

Ensure adherence to safety procedures and 5S standards in the machine shop.

Implement Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Maintain production reports, downtime reports, tool consumption, and other relevant MIS.

Ensure machines and manpower are utilized effectively to meet production targets.

Technical Skills Required

Strong hands-on knowledge of CNC Turning / CNC Machining Centres.

Excellent knowledge of VMC and HMC programming.

Experience in G-code / M-code programming and program editing.

Knowledge of CNC controls such as Fanuc / Siemens / Mitsubishi / Heidenhain will be preferred.

Good understanding of cutting parameters, tooling, fixtures, work holding, and machining processes.

Ability to optimize CNC programs for cycle-time reduction.

Strong knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings.

Knowledge of CNC machine setting, tool offsets, work offsets, and tool management.

Experience with production planning and manpower management.

Knowledge of TPM, 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and OEE.

Desired Experience

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in a precision machining / automotive / engineering manufacturing environment.

Candidates with strong hands-on CNC, VMC & HMC programming experience will be preferred.

Experience in managing a complete machine shop and a team of programmers, setters, and operators will be an advantage.
