The Sheet Metal Bending Operator is responsible for operating and setting up sheet metal bending machines (Press Brake/CNC Bending Machine) to produce components as per engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules. The operator must ensure safe machine operation, maintain product quality, and achieve production targets.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
Operate CNC and conventional press brake machines for sheet metal bending activities.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, work orders, and production specifications.
Set up tools, punches, and dies as per job requirements.
Perform bending operations according to specified dimensions and tolerances.
Ensure production targets are achieved within the planned time.
Quality Control
Inspect finished components using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, measuring tapes, angle gauges, and height gauges.
Verify dimensions and quality as per drawing specifications.
Identify and report defects, deviations, and non-conforming products.
Maintain quality standards and minimize rejection and rework.
Machine Maintenance
Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
Report machine breakdowns, tool damages, or operational issues to the supervisor.
Ensure proper handling and storage of tools and equipment.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all factory safety rules and standard operating procedures.
Use mandatory PPE such as safety shoes, gloves, ear protection, and safety glasses.
Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S practices.
Comply with company policies and quality management systems.
