The Assembly Fitter is responsible for assembling mechanical components and sub-assemblies as per drawings and work instructions. The role involves fitting, aligning, and testing parts to ensure quality, safety, and functionality of the final product.
Assemble mechanical components, parts, and sub-assemblies as per engineering drawings and specifications
Perform fitting operations such as drilling, tapping, filing, grinding, and alignment
Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments effectively
Read and understand basic mechanical drawings and work instructions
Ensure correct torque tightening of bolts and fasteners
Check assembled components for accuracy, fit, and finish
Identify and report defects or deviations to the supervisor
Follow safety rules, PPE usage, and shop-floor discipline
Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of the work area
Assist senior fitters and technicians during assembly activities
Basic knowledge of mechanical assembly processes
Ability to read simple engineering drawings
Familiarity with hand tools and measuring instruments (vernier caliper, micrometer, etc.)
Understanding of basic tolerances and fits
Awareness of safety practices in a manufacturing environment
ITI / Diploma in Fitter, Mechanical, or equivalent trade
Willingness to learn and follow instructions
Team player with a positive attitude
Basic troubleshooting ability
Shop floor / Assembly line
Manufacturing or mechanical production unit
