Job Description:
Design complete electrical systems, including low and medium-voltage distribution
Able to develop power distribution from the substation transformer at the customer facility to the line and equipment.
Determine electrical loads that the equipment or line requires to operate efficiently.
Work with a team of engineers when new equipment or line is being designed. Provide the electrical and controls design portion of the project and take account of his intended functionality.
Work with team designers and customers on electrical load and functionality requirements so that an electrical load sheet and control inputs and outputs can be completed and an electrical/control system can be designed for that project.
Prepare control scheme/topology and develop a drawing package consisting of;
Electrical and controls components selection based on compliance requirements and budget
Develops MCC layout(s) based on calculation data, including motor starter/VFD/Soft Starter or other loads circuit protector sizing
Ensure panel schedule layouts balance loads on all phases
Prepare load analysis, including arc flash analysis, for the advanced stages of design
Size VFD line/load reactors
Site Electrical (duct banks, power, and control) plans
Electrical one-lines and schematics
Site Grounding plans
Electrical room layouts
Cable tray plans
Control Instruments layout plans
Performs wire and conduit sizing calculations, voltage drop calculations, and conduit fill calculations
Develop detailed project electrical and control systems schematics considering all of the above.
Power Distribution Diagrams
Motor Control Center Diagrams
Control Power Distribution Diagrams
Network Architecture Drawings
Control System I/O Drawings
Terminal Drawings
GA Drawings
Cable Lists and Measurements
Equipment or Line wiring diagrams
Junction box drawings
BOM Development, finalization, and cost estimation
Self-quality check of drawings
Develop specifications for electrical and control panels and final nameplate
Once a design has been established, visit customer sites to ensure the electrical and control installation process is safe and efficient while making adjustments to ensure the highest level of safety and efficiency are achieved.
